Aslam Gain and co-accused Borhan were sentenced to death for the rape and murder of Gain's wife on July 26, 2001 at Delarbati village in Bangladesh. According to the prosecution, Aslam used to torture his wife Asma Begum since they were married. At the end of 2000 Asma filed a case against her husband under the Women & Child Repression (Prevention) Act.
