the Bahamas government stayed the execution of Godfrey Sawyer because he filed an appeal. “The death sentence will not be carried out until after the determination of the relevant proceedings,” the Ministry of National Security said in a statement. Sawyer was sentenced to death on November 9, 2009, for fatally shooting Sterling Eugene.
