a Bangladeshi cook will be executed in Bahrain after the Cassation Court, the highest court in the country, threw out his second appeal. Mizan Noor Al Rahman Ayoub Mia was sentenced to death by the High Criminal Court in April, 2007, for murdering 37 year old Bahraini fashion designer Sana Al Jalahma. Mia's first appeal was rejected by the Supreme Criminal Appeal Court in January. "The ruling will now go to His Majesty King Hamad for endorsement and Mia will be executed by firing squad at the Interior Ministry," his lawyer Mohammed Al Murbati told the GDN. Mia was convicted of stabbing Ms Al Jalahma to death in a frenzied attack at her home in Saar, in August 2006 where he worked as a cook. Prosecutors said he confessed during questioning that after an argument between the two, he planned to strangle her. However, he stabbed her after she broke a glass over his head in an attempt to defend herself.
