BANGLADESH: 5 SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR TOYON MURDER IN KHULNA
Five people were sentenced to death and two others acquitted on 8 March 2020 over the murder of Kazi Tasfin Hossain Toyon, 32, in Khalishpur area of Khulna city in 2018.

Five people were sentenced to death and two others acquitted on 8 March 2020 over the murder of Kazi Tasfin Hossain Toyon, 32, in Khalishpur area of Khulna city in 2018.
The verdict was passed by Khulna Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal judge Md Nazrul Islam.
Public Prosecutor Advocate Ahaduzzaman said one of the convicts, Jakir Hossain, is still absconding. The four other convicts --Kazi Murad Hossain, Saiful Islam Gazi, Kazi Rowonkul Islam and Forhad Hossain -- have confessed before the court.
The acquitted are Kazi Sabbir Hossain Fahim and Kazi Masum.
On 28 August 2018, Toyon went missing and his father Kazi Ferdous Hossain filed a case with Khalishpur police station on 8 September 2018.
After the case was filed, police used mobile phone tracking to arrest Saiful. Based on Saiful's information, the three others got arrested soon and Toyon's body was recovered.
On 10 December 2018, the investigation officer Sub Inspector (SI) submitted the charge sheet to the court, accusing seven people.
