BANGLADESH: 6 GET DEATH PENALTY FOR KILLING COUPLE FOR LAND PROPERTY IN TANGAIL
A tribunal in Dhaka on 13 September 2020 sentenced six people to death for killing a couple -- a retired government primary school teacher and his wife -- in a bid to grab land property in Sadar upazila of Tangail in 2017.

A tribunal in Dhaka on 13 September 2020 sentenced six people to death for killing a couple -- a retired government primary school teacher and his wife -- in a bid to grab land property in Sadar upazila of Tangail in 2017.
Judge Abu Zafar Md Kamruzzaman of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 of Dhaka handed down the sentence in presence of the six accused at the tribunal, said advocate Abu Abdullah Bhuiyan, a prosecution lawyer.
The convicts are Swapon Kumar Das, Zahidul Islam, Forhad, Moniruzzaman Bhuiyan, Monzurul Uslam and Shayan Mia.
According to the prosecution, Swapon, who was a step-brother of victim Anil Kumar Das, made a plan to embezzle Anil's land property in connivance with the other five accused.
On 26 July 2017, the six accused killed Anil Kumar Das and his wife and hid the two bodies in a septic tank of the victims' house.
