Those given capital punishment were: Saidul Islam, 30, Sujon alias Gama, 30, Montazur alias Monta, 28, Haider, 27, Swapan, 30. Among them, Sujon was tried in absentia. It was alleged that Suraiya Akhter Shumi was gang raped and strangled to death on the night of December 22, 2003 when the convicts went to a house in Bogra town to commit robbery.
