BANGLADESH. MAN SENT TO GALLOWS FOR KILLING HIS WIFE

Shafiqul Islam Sony of Horidaspur village in Sadar, Bangladesh, was sentenced to death in absentia by a court in Dinajpur for killing his wife in 2003. According to the prosecution, Sony tortured to death his wife Laboni on March 3 of that year after she had failed to realize a dowry demand of Tk 50,000 (625 euro).
