Judge Mohammad Mutajidur Rahman of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Satkhira, Bangladesh, convicted a man and awarded him capital punishment for killing his wife four years ago. According to prosecution, Surat Ali Gazi, of Sheyara village in Kaliganj upazila district, strangled his wife Jhungkari Begum and later poured poison into her mouth on the night of April 16, 2003 after failing to get dowry money from her.
