BANGLADESH. SIX AWARDED DEATH PENALTY FOR MURDER OF COUPLE

a court in Moulvibazar, Bangladesh, condemned six people to death and awarded two others life term rigorous imprisonment for the murder of fellow-villagers Ashok Dev Roy and his wife Shuvra Rani following a dispute over land on April 8, 2001. Condemned to death were Abdul Khalik, M. Ibrahim, Moshahid Mia, Abdul Muhit, Abdul Monnaf and Abdur Rakib, all hailing from Jagatsi village in the Sadar district.
