A court in Barguna on 9 April 2019 sentenced a man to death for killing his wife in 2010.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mohammad Hafizur Rahman sentenced two others to five years in jail in the same case.
Mohammad Nuruzzaman of Shatakar village in Patharghata upazila killed his wife Nadira Begum on August 19, 2010. His brother Md Riaz and mother Arabjan Begum helped him hang the body from the ceiling to make it appear a suicide.
Nuruzzaman was fined Tk 1 lakh.
Riaz and Arabjan were fined Tk 10,000 each. They will have to serve three months in jail if they fail to pay the fine.
