BANGLADESH: MAN TO GO TO GALLOWS FOR KILLING WIFE IN HABIGANJ

a tribunal in Habiganj, Bangladesh, sentenced a man to death for killing his wife due to dowry. The condemned convict was identified as Badal Mia, 30, son of Rangila Mia of Noagaon village in Nabiganj upazila. According to the prosecution, Badal set fire to mosquito net of his room on the night of May 30, 2003 when his wife Sumi Akhter was asleep. Judge M Hasan Imam of Women and Children Repression Prevention tribunal delivered the judgment.
