Those sentenced to life were identified as Sahabuddin, Hayder Ali, Bellal Farazi, Riaz and Laboni Begum. According to the prosecution, a gang of robbers swooped on the house of physician Abdul Jabbar of Hogla Bunia village, Morelganj district, on the night of March 7, 2005. They shot Jabbar dead and looted valuables from the house.
