BANGLADESH. HIGH SECURITY JAIL TO BE BUILT FOR DEATH ROW PRISONERS

a high security jail for prisoners on death row would be built at Kashimpur in Gazipur, Bangladesh, as the number of death row convicts was rising due to the lengthy process of execution of the death penalty.
There were about 750 condemned prisoners in different jails across the country, and the government felt it necessity for a special jail for them, State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar said.
"I think it will take at least 100 years to execute the death sentence of these 750 convicts if the process [of execution] continues at the current rate or speed," the state minister said. The high security prison capable of accommodating 400-500 convicts sentenced to death would be built near the two existing jails in Kashimpur.
