The district court of Naogaon, Bangladesh, sentenced to death Babul Hossain in absentia for killing a neighbour. According to the prosecution, on December 29, 1996 Babul called Subrata Kumar out of his house so he could ask for Tk 5000 he had lent him to be returned. His body was found six days later in the Atrai river. Four others involved in the case were acquited.
