a court in Bangladesh sentenced a man to death for killing his wife nearly four years ago for dowry. Judge of the Chittagong Divisional Speedy Trial Court, Shafiqul Karim, convicted Shakhawat Hossain, 30, from Kachua village in Kachua upazila, Chandpur district. His parents were sentenced to life imprisonment for their involvement in the crime, while his sister was acquitted. According to the prosecution, the convicts killed Nusrat Haque Shantu, wife of Shakhawat, on November 23, 2003, just eight months after their marriage.
