BANGLADESH. ONE TO DIE AND FOUR TO GO TO JAIL FOR MURDER

Khokon Bepari, 26, was condemned to death by the Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal of Barisal, Bangladesh, after being found guilty of murder. Four members of Bepari’s family were sentenced to various jail terms. His father Sobahan Bepari, 65, and brother Milon Bepari, 28, were sentenced to seven years imprisonment while Mizan Bepari, 30, and Liton Bepari, 29, to life imprisonment. According to the prosecution, the convicts called Rahul out of his house in Samaddarkati village, Mirzaganj, on the night of November 22, 2003, and strangled him to death. The motive for the crime was not reported.
