In the first case, Mamun Hossain was sentenced to death for the murder of Hakim Mia at Deobogh during a quarrel on September 5, 2003. His wife Zayeda Begum was sentenced to three years in prison. In another case, two young men, Sujan Mahmud and Raja, were sentenced to death for the premeditated murder of Aeysha Akter, wife of Sujan, on April 9, 2004.
