Batch Faye was sentenced to death by the Gambian High court for the murder of Malick Njok. Justice M A Paul of the High Court sentenced Batch to death for stabbing Malick Njok while they were at Waw nightclub on December 6, 2003, resulting in the latter's death.
In delivering his three-hour judgment in a courtroom packed with Batch Faye's emotive relatives and sympathisers Justice Paul said that the act by the accused was unlawful and that the evidence had clearly exposed him as a murderer who could not be believed when he said he had followed the deceased outside the nightclub only expecting to caution him.
