Grigory Vasilevich, chairman of the Constitutional Court of Belarus, said that he believed death penalty was a strong deterrent against crime that should be retained.
"There are crimes people should answer for with their lives," he told reporters in Minsk. "Europe is going its own way and, as recent terror attacks in Madrid and London have shown, things are quite complicated. Belarus also has its own traditions and models," Vasilevich added.
