The administration of the Northern Cemetery outside Minsk denied reports that the cemetery has a special area where the bodies of executed people are buried.
Leonid Klachko, deputy director of the funeral services agency to which the Northern Cemetery is attached, told journalists that executed convicts and homeless people are buried in accordance with a generally-established procedure.
The statement came in response to a quote by Head of the Criminal Police Department Nikolai Lopatik who said that the bodies of missing ex-interior minister Yuri Zakharenko, ex-chairman of the Central Election Commission Viktor Gonchar, and businessman Anatoly Krassovsky were likely to be found in the "special area for prisoners in the Northern Cemetery."
