Cambodia's Senate unanimously approved a re-debated final draft on establishing a UN-assisted tribunal to bring former Khmer Rouge leaders to justice

Cambodia's Senate unanimously approved a re-debated final draft on establishing a UN-assisted tribunal to bring former Khmer Rouge leaders to justice. All 51 senators attending the session voted for an amendment of Article 3 of the bill, changing the maximum punishment from death to life imprisonment. The bill, which was approved on July 11 by the National Assembly, the lower house, will be forwarded to the Constitutional Council before being signed into law by King Norodom Sihanouk.
