Chief Prosecutor of Prosecutor General's Office of Russia George Tsurtsumia actively cooperates with Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia regarding issue of extradition of Chechens detained for penetration of border. 13 armed Chechens were detained in two groups on 3-4 of August on Chechen portion of Georgian-Russian border near Girevi checkpoint. If crime committed by them envisages execution in Russia, according to Minsk convention Georgia has the right to refuse extradition, request material on their criminal cases and judge them here for both crimes committed in Russia and in Georgia.
However Rtskhiladze declared that currently moratorium is declared on execution in Russia. According to Rtskhiladze, Georgian side has the right to refuse extradition even if above-mentioned documentation is not fully received, in other cases, according to international standards Georgia will not have problem regarding extradition. Detained Chechens recognize their guilt and require to be judged in Georgia.
Prosecutor's Office of Georgia refused Prosecutor General of Russia to extradite Chechen gunmen because Ustinov could not present documents foreseen by Georgian and international legislations for extradition.
