a man was executed in Guang'an, Sichuan Province, for killing seven people during a series of robberies at company vaults, banks and a jewelry shop after a jail break. Hu Daoping, an ex-convict, also injured three other people and stole more than 1 million yuan (US$125,000) during the robberies across the southwestern province, state radio reported. Hu was sentenced to eight years in prison in May 1995 for theft in his hometown in Kaixian County, in Sichuan's neighboring Chongqing City, China National Radio said. Three years later, he fled the jail. Hu was charged seven robberies and 10 other major thefts in Sichuan's Guang'an, Yuechi and Dazhou areas.
In one cases on September 6, 2005, Hu broke into a vault of the Baimiao Credit Cooperative in Yuechi County and killed two guards before fleeing with more than 182,000 yuan. He was caught the same day.
