CHINA. MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH OVER MURDER OF JAPANESE CITIZEN

Chinese national Han Enze was sentenced to death and two others received prison terms in China over the murder and robbery of a Japanese nightclub manager in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward in 2001. A high court in northeastern China's Heilongjiang Province had sentenced 31 year old Enze to death and two others to 3 and 15 years imprisonment on December 10, 2004.
The Tokyo police had placed the three on an international wanted list through Interpol. It was not known if the sentences had been carried out.
Chinese criminal law allows courts to try people who have allegedly committed crimes outside the country.
Five men, including the three sentenced, barged into the nightclub and killed Ryuzaburo Ito, 59, who was at the counter, stabbing him with a knife on August 16, 2001. They took about 3 million yen and ran away, according to the police.
Han went to China in December 2001, and the police placed him on an international wanted list in January 2002.
Chinese authorities took him into custody in February 2003.
