Sultan Miah, 35, was sentenced to death by a special tribunal in Netrokona, Bangladesh, for killing his wife for dowry in the country’s Mohonganj district. According to the prosecution, Miah strangled his 25 year old wife Parveen Akhter to death on March 8, 2003, after failing to pay dowry money of Tk 20,000 (241EU).
