CHINA: UGANDAN DRUG TRAFFICKER TO HANG

one of the seven Ugandans held in China over drug-related offences was sentenced to death according to Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa. Although Mr Kutesa declined to disclose the identity of the Ugandan on death row, sources in China named him as Jason Mukiibi, 35. Mr Mukiibi is one of the seven Ugandans who were arrested in possession of heroin weighing more than 50 grams, the threshold upon which the death penalty can be imposed in Communist China. The other suspects who face death are Mr Henry Kakooza, 24; Mr Paul Muwonge, 31; Mr Faridu Kalema, 35; Ms Keren Ocokoru, 36; Ms Lillian Nakungu, 48; and Mr Salim Nassuru.
“As government, we are asking the Chinese government to repatriate them to Uganda so that they can serve their life imprisonment here, " Mr Kutesa said.
