She had been convicted of killing her two children, Justin, 5 and Shelby Alexis, 2 on 5th November 1997. She had waived her right for further appeals. Christina Marie Riggs was the first woman to be executed in Arkansas in 150 years, and the fifth woman to be executed in the U.S. since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
