David Gibbs, 39, white, was executed by lethal injection. He had been convicted of killing Marietta Bryant and Carol Ackland, both white females, during a burglary in their apartment in July 1985. He was the 31st person to be executed in the state during the year, No 230 since the State resumed executions in 1974. He was the 62nd to be put to death in the U.S. during the year and No 660 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
