Death row inmates in Idaho will no longer automatically face solitary confinement

Death row inmates in Idaho will no longer automatically face solitary confinement. Governor Dirk Kempthorne has signed legislation that classifies death row inmates as high security, but leaves decisions on housing the inmates up to the Department of Corrections. The old law required death row inmates spend 23 hours a day in solitary confinement.
