In the guilt phase of the murder trial of Gregory Bowen, the jury took 3 hours to find the defendant guilty on April 2. However, jury members deliberated more than five hours in the penalty phase before returning a unanimous decision to invoke the death penalty for the Dec. 29, 2001, murder of Donald Palmer Christiansen. Circuit Court Judge Richard K. Mickelson read the verdict. Bowen will join 27 other convicts on Oregon's death row.
