"Don't treat terrorists like common criminals who can follow legal procedures such as appeal. It's very dangerous. Once they are proven to be involved (in terror acts), (they) can be executed directly," People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Amien Rais said when questioned on the execution of terrorists after the closing of the 2003 MPR plenary session. "We propose that they stand trial in extraordinary courts if such courts can be set up," Amien said."If proven they are involved in a cruel crime , they must be directly sentenced to death. It will give effective message to those who try to do cruel acts. They will face similar punishment," Amien added.
