Earl Wesley Berry was executed at 6 p.m. today in Unit 17 of Parchman. Berry, 49, was convicted in 1988 of beating 56-year-old Mary Bounds to death in Novembre1987. Berry becomes the 1st condemned inmate in Mississippi to be put to death this year, the 2nd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1101st overall since the nation resumed capital punishment on January 17, 1977.
