the death sentence of Egyptian real estate tycoon Hesham Talaat Moustafa for paying an assassin to kill Suzanne Tamim in Dubai in 2008 was commuted to 15 years in prison. Mohsen El Sokkari, the hotel security chief convicted of carrying out the killing, also had his death sentence commuted to 28 years in prison. The ruling by a Cairo appeals court came as a surprise because the defence team had not summed up, and the judge had not indicated there would be a decision.
