Eight members of a gang specializing in highway robberies were executed in central China's Henan province, state media said. The eight were put to death shortly after receiving their sentences at the Nanyang Intermediate People's Court, the People's Court Daily reported, without specifying the day of execution. All in their late 20s, the eight were unemployed and had committed 27 highway robberies, stopping long-distance buses and threatening or beating the passengers to get their cash or valuables, the paper said. The gang's activities, which also included 24 robberies of other kinds of vehicles, had led to injuries for a total of seven people, the paper said. No one appeared to have been killed.
