The Xinjiang Daily reported that Ma Yanshan was sentenced to death for murdering six members of his estranged wife's family. The Daily reported that Yashan had locked the gate to the family compound and hacked and stabbed to death his former wife's parents, his former brother and sister-in-laws and two nephews and a niece aged three, eight and nine over a child custody dispute.
