ETHIOPIA: FIVE SENTENCED TO DEATH OVER ASSASSINATION PLOT

five prominent Ethiopian politicians were sentenced to death by the Federal High Court for plotting assassinations in May 2009. Senior opposition figure Melaku Tefera was the only one present in court during the ruling.
The other four include exiled Ethiopian economist Berhanu Nega, UK-based Ethiopian politician Andargachew Tsegie and CUD - Coalition for Unity and Democracy - politician Muluneh Eyoel.
