Euro-MP Glenys Kinnock renewed calls for Miss Wales to abandon her aesthetic ambition

Euro-MP Glenys Kinnock renewed calls for Miss Wales to abandon her aesthetic ambition. "She is clearly being bombarded by propaganda," said Mrs Kinnock. "I would just urge her to ask questions, to probe, to not accept the information they are giving her. President Obasanjo Olusegun should be urged to act before the event. There is no use condemning it during or after the event because you lose the leverage." The Welsh contestant, however, believes a boycott would fail to win any reprieve for Ms Lawal. "By having all the world's press there highlighting this problem it is more likely to do something," said Miss Michelle Bush. "If it were true that Amina was going to be stoned to death then I wouldn't be going either, " said Mrs Morley, whose late husband Eric started the competition in 1951. "The president has made it perfectly clear that federal law supersedes any state law in the north. I have the president's word."
