Even Osama bin Laden should not be extradited to face the death penalty, according to Plaid Cymru MP Simon Thomas.
Thomas, MP for Ceredigion, was reacting to Home Secretary David Blunkett announcement in the House of Commons that emergency powers to tackle terror are to be brought in by the Government.
Blunkett told MPs that a new Anti-Terrorism Bill would include tougher powers to remove suspected terrorists from the UK.
Thomas said people fleeing genuine oppression should not lose out as a result of the new laws." He added people - even Osama Bin Laden - should not be extradited to face the death penalty.
"It's quite easy for governments to fabricate evidence against their political opponents and to call them terrorists."
