Extradition April 2, 2000: a high level meeting reviewed the process of bringing back the killers of Bangbandhu hiding in different countries. Presided over by Home minister Mohammad Nasim, the meeting was attended by Law Minister Abdul Matin Khashru, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Abul Hasan Chowdhuty, Inspector General of Police Aybi Siddiqui and senior officials. "We are very hopeful of bringing back at least four or five killers within a short time," said a senior official after the meeting. The renewed effort to bring them back was taken as the Supreme Court was about to take up the case of confirmation of the death sentence for hearing. According to information available, Lt Col (rtd) Mohiuddin Ahmed, Lt Col (rtd) Rashed Chowdhury and Maj Sharful Hossain were in America, Lt Col Noor Chowdhury, Capt Kismat Hashem and Nazmul Hossain Ansar were in Canada and Lt Col Aziz Pasha, Lt Col Shariful Haq Dalim, Lt Col Khandakar Rashid, Capt Abdul Majed and Risaldar Moslem Uddin were believed to be hiding in Zimbabwe, Libya, Pakistan and India. The meeting decided to ask the Bangladeshi ambassadors in those countries to seek the respective government's assistance in expatriating the killers.
