Fifty-one percent of the Venezuelans back the application of death penalty in this country to reduce high crime rate, according to soundings by the Encuestadora Roxon polling firm

Fifty-one percent of the Venezuelans back the application of death penalty in this country to reduce high crime rate, according to soundings by the Encuestadora Roxon polling firm. Forty-four percent is against death penalty and the remaining five percent did not know or did not want to answer. The poll was made on August 21-27 with a sampling of 1,400 persons in several cities. According to the poll, the main concern of 24 million Venezuelans was insecurity. Fifty-two percent of the people supported life imprisonment as another punishment, while 43 percent was against and five percent did not answer.
