Four men responsible for a series of violent robberies in which five people died were sentenced to death by the Intermediate People's Court of Shenyang city in northeast China's Liaoning Province.
It was alleged that Since August 1988, Zhang Xianhui and his brothers Zhang Xianming and Zhang Xianguang, together with Li Yanbo and his brother Li Yanbin had killed five people and injured 10 others in seven robberies and hold-ups with guns and knives in Shenyang and Harbin.
On 18 January, the three Zhang brothers and Li Yanbo blew up and robbed a bank in the city of Shenyang at gun-point, leaving three people dead and four others injured.
They fled with over 2.2m yuan, and were finally captured along with Li Yanbin on 8 February by the police. Zhang Xianguang was still at large.
