France, speaking for the 15-nation European Union, condemned the jail terms of between 4 and 13 years handed down to the 10 Jews in Iran by the Revolutionary Court in Shiraz. Separately, French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin said the conviction of the Jews was unacceptable and that he hoped the country would see that the verdict was overturned on appeal.
