Freddie Lee Wright, 48, black, was executed by electric chair in Hoffman Prison. He was pronounced dead at 00:11. He had been convicted of killing a white couple, Warren Green, 40, and his wife Lois, 37, during a robbery in December 1977. He was the second person to be executed in the State during the year, the 21st since the State resumed executions in 1983. He was the 20th to be executed in the U.S. during the year and No 618 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
