Frederick McWilliams, 30, was executed tonight
Frederick McWilliams, 30, was executed tonight for the Sept. 27, 1996, fatal shooting of Alfonso Rodriguez during a car theft.
He was pronounced dead at 6:18 p.m. CST.
McWilliams had two accomplices: a cousin, Richard Hawkins, and a third man, Kenneth Adams. When Adams was arrested on other charges, he told the police McWilliams was the gunman, leading to McWilliams' arrest, subsequent trial and death sentence. Hawkins, now 27, received an 8-year prison term. Adams, now 26, received a life sentence.
McWilliams becomes the 22nd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Texas and the 57th in the USA.
