Gianfranco Dell'Alba, MEP from the Lista Bonino, asked the European Commission and Council whether they consider it an opportune moment to amend the UN Conventions on Drugs from 1961, 1971 and 1988, which foresee the criminalization of drug related crimes for which several countries provide the death penalty. Among these countries are China, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Iran and Kuwait, recalled the MEP.
