Hangzhou Intermediate People's Court, in Zhejiang Province, sentenced Zhou Hang, director of the Provincial Pharmaceutical Supervision Administration, to death with a two year reprieve. From February 1998 to October 2001, Zhou allegedly accepted 2.66m yuan and 170,700 US dollars in bribes from 56 people, for helping them to obtain contracts, job transfers and promotions.
