Herman Henry "Bud" Von Dohlen...

Herman Henry "Bud" Von Dohlen, who spent 15 years on death row, has been sentenced to life in prison after the state Supreme Court, ruled there were errors in his trial.
Von Dohlen was convicted in 1991 of killing a 21-year-old Margaret McLean in 1990. The Supreme Court granted a new sentencing hearing on Aug. 30, 2004 (see).
The justices upheld the murder and robbery convictions but said Von Dohlen's defense attorneys did not adequately present evidence on the extent of his alleged mental illness at the time.
Circuit Judge Markley Dennis sentenced Von Dohlen to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years.
