Ho Van Thanh, a 47-year-old man, was sentenced to death by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court, Vietnam, for murdering a man while in a drunken rage. It was alleged that after a bout of heavy drinking in May 2002, Thanh tried to enter the house of a stranger, Nguyen Thanh Tam, but was turned away. Aggrieved, Thanh returned home to collect a knife and went back to Tam's house where he stabbed and killed him, and then seriously wounded Tam's father.
