HOC supported the demonstrations, promoted by the Transnational Radical Party and the Italian Radicals, to ask that funds given to Fidel Castro's regime by the European Commission be suspended.
In Cuba crimes of opinion and of opposition continue to be punished by lengthy prison sentences.
On Tuesday 70 Cuban citizens (journalists, opposition and known personalities) were punished with sentences of up to 27 years imprisonment for crimes of opinion.
Castro, who has committed several human rights violations in the past against the Cuban population, continues to have support from the European Commission which remains one of the regimes main financial contributors and economic partners.
The demonstration has taken place in front of the European Commission's Italian offices in Rome.
