In Zambia performing artists joined the battle against the death penalty with two workshops for directors and playwrights. Benne Banda, of Arts Acres Africa who are the organisers of the workshops, said the idea was to get the participants to work on more plays focussing on human rights particularly the death penalty."The is meant to start a sensitisation process for the public ahead of the Constitutional Review sitting which is expected to commence."The workshops are being held in conjunction with the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) and supported by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), Finnish International Development Agency (FINIDA) and the British Council.
